Burn Permits
- our common home
Michigan's Burn Permits system lets residents check whether open burning is permitted on a given day in their county and township before burning yard waste or debris. The DNR announced the updated system in April 2026, highlighting the replacement of an outdated clickable map with streamlined county and township dropdown menus, a mobile-friendly "Can I burn today?" flow, and improved clarity around the different burn regulations for northern and southern Lower Peninsula regions. I rebuilt the system to meet WCAG 2.1 AA requirements and align it with the One State, One Brand design initiative.
