The Water Withdrawal Assessment Tool is the central component of Michigan's Water Withdrawal Assessment Process — the mechanism by which the state fulfills its Great Lakes Compact obligations and regulates large-quantity water withdrawals before installation. EGLE launched an updated version in September 2025 with MiLogin authentication, improved transparency into watershed allocation data, support for site-specific parameters like transmissivity and storativity, and visibility into the same assessment tools used by EGLE staff. I delivered the initial modernization of the system after its transfer from Michigan State University, ensuring continuity of this critical regulatory tool and improving its digital experience.
