Project
Michigan Forest Inventory (MiFI)
- our common home
MiFI is the Michigan DNR's web-based system for managing the state forest โ supporting inventory of every acre, prescription of forest treatments, and execution of commercial timber sales. Originally launched in 2015 after a NASCIO award-winning transformation from a paper-based process, the system enables foresters to complete all field work with a mobile device and attribute data for every acre in the state forest, allowing staff to measure 30% more area per site visit and finalize timber sale forecasts two months earlier than before. I contributed platform work to sustain and extend the system's core business functions for the DNR's Forest Resources Division.
